Author matt   Filed under Music   November 5, 2009

Just got an email about registering for sxsw. Now I don’t know if Sonicbirds handles all the signups or not, but here this is FWIW.

Today marks the final week Seattle bands can apply to showcase at this year’s South By Southwest Music conference in Austin, T.X. The deadline is midnight on Friday, 11/6, at
http://www.sonicbids.com/sxsw

Here are the Seattle bands who applied using their Sonicbids accounts last year and were selected by SXSW to perform an official showcase:

Natalie Portman’s Shaved Head (www.sonicbids.com/NataliePortmansShavedHead)

Who’s Headed South? Seattle Represents in SXSW

Author Kevin LeDoux   Filed under Music   March 10, 2008

Seattle Heads to SXSWTomorrow (Mar 12) kicks off the 2008 SXSW Music festival. I had the full intention of pouring through the line-up and pulling out all of the must-see shows as well as showcasing the bands making the pilgrimage from our fine and soggy city to the Lone Star State, but Jesus, have you looked at the schedule. Where the hell am I supposed to begin? Why the hell am I still in Seattle?

So to make things at least semi-digestible as well as minimizing my jealousy, I thought I’d give you a quick lo-down on which of our local kiddies are part of (and hosting) some of the parties down in Austin

PBJ

Peter Bjorn and John are really knocking my socks off. And John Richards‘ socks. And indie radio’s. They’re in Austin right now and I caught a live set of theirs off KEXP yesterday, and they sounded great, despite the bassist playing a guitar because his bass got stolen the night before. This song plays in my head for 4-8 hours, at least once a week:
