Ladies on a Fence with BLOUSE (u.s.a.) WTF!!

Author stradhoughton   Filed under Music   February 9, 2010

This Saturday February 13th, the Rendezvous Jewelbox Theatre will be flushed with a turd-load of weird fun. The Stranger described Ladies on a Fence as “much more listenable than should be fairly expected from a band rife with theatrics and giggling, and the duo’s oddball humor rose far beyond punchlines. If the WTF genre of music is a real thing, then Ladies on a Fence—ha, that spells LOAF—might be on to something.”

BLOUSE (u.s.a.), who you can hear at: http://blouseblouse.bandcamp.com is Benjamin Thomas-Kennedy’s awkward, new-age, musical, multimedia, dance performance with puppets and costumes and lessons about the planet.

Damn this is going to be fun.
Live L.O.A.F.

Machu Picchu Mother Future debut on vinyl!

MPMF!

While on an east coast tour in November of 2007, CONIFER (Important Records) and LESBIAN (Holy Mountain) drove to Richmond, Virginia arriving at 5a.m. and ended up crashing at the Sound Of Music recording studio for two nights. There to play a show with SOUVENIR’S YOUNG AMERICA (Crucial Blast) at the Nara Sushi, all three bands (11 members total in one live room) entered the studio on very little sleep and recorded roughly two hours of improvised music… very loosely structured and minds somewhat altered… These sessions birthed what will be known as “Space Mountain Forever.” France’s MusicFearSatan label presents a beautiful 12″ red vinyl recording of MACHU PICCHU MOTHER FUTURE!!

Grab it here! http://www.musicfearsatan.com/fr/reference/6051.html

He has announced that he’s going to kill himself- on camera- for a class project. His classmates, parents, Sierra- the most beautiful girl in school, and a “Shady Bunch” of shrinks, doctors, pill-pushers, and counselors descend on Archie.  Rocky Vololato provided music for the film’s sound track and he will be performing live before the screenings.  The director is scheduled to attend.  The film is also one of that final appearances by the late David Carradine.

Screenings take place at Pacific Place Cinemas – June 10, 2009 9:30 PM and June 11, 2009 4:30 PM

As part of the Seattle International Film Festival, the daKAH Hip Hop Orchestra will be performing at Neumos on Saturday.

Machu Picchu Mother Future: LESBIAN takes a detour

Author stradhoughton   Filed under Music, Upcoming Shows   November 2, 2008

Next week was to be the kick off of the band LESBIAN’s 2008 West Coast Tour with Conifer.  As luck would have it, drummer Benjamin Thomas-Kennedy tore a muscle in his forearm while playing with his dangerous thrash-grind project The Abodox.  As a result Conifer will be braving the road alone on LESBIAN’s gear with LESBIAN’s bass player Dorando behind the wheel.LESBIAN fans need not fret though, this Friday November 7th, Conifer and LESBIAN (all of them save for one of Ben’s arms) will be joining forces at Seattle’s Comet Tavern and playing simultaneously as Machu Picchu Mother Future.  Machu Picchu Mother Future recorded a record in Virginia last year during the LESBIAN/Conifer east coast tour.  The album includes all these guys plus the members of Richmond’s Souvenirs Young America.  The album should be out early next year on Hyperrealist. Come witness this psychedelic event on Friday at the Comet in Seattle.  Opening with be Hemingway and Wasted Baby (featuring a bunch of guys from the Master Musicians of Bukkake).  Machu Picchu Mother Future plays again on Sunday November 9th at Kelly’s Olympian in Portland with Saros.

Omnia Mutantor replaces LESBIAN in Noise for Needy Line up!

Author stradhoughton   Filed under Music   June 11, 2008

This Friday LESBIAN had to back out of their benefit show at the Funhouse because their dumb-ass drummer busted up his foot and can’t kick his kickers.  Instead, LESBIAN’s rhythm guitarist Dan LaRochelle is unleashing his new project on us.  Peep this shit:  OMNIA MUTANTOR  which means: “All things change.”  The set will conceptually be sort of a fugue comprised of three themes:        Abgrund         Irrgaten        and Nacht    ….each of the performers will represent one of the three themes:  Dan LaRochelle (from LESBIAN) guitar.(Nacht-night)   Nihilist (from In Memorium) on vokills.(Abgrund-Abyss)  Andrew McInnis (from Lemons & Stallions) on drums.(Irrgaten-Labyrinth)……wow!!

A Reason to go to Folklife????

Author stradhoughton   Filed under Music   May 24, 2008

I don’t know how many of you are familiar with Christina Antipa. t  I just discovered her for myself a couple of weeks ago.  Normally performing at DIY house shows, Ms. Antipa is doing Seattle a big favor by sharing her beautiful voice and gifted songwriting with the rest of us this Sunday at the Vera.  Yes its part of Folklife, but she is joined on the bill by other very interesting acts including Calvin Johnson.  So don’t worry; there will be hippies there but they won’t be all grey-bearded and tie-dyed.  They will be young and beautiful just like you.  Seriously, check Christina’s music out for yourself: myspace.com/christinaantipaVera Project located on the corner of Warren & Republican Ave N, next to the Key Arena in Seattle Center. Christina is on at 5:15 on Sunday afternoon
