STG & KEXP present Visqueen at the Neptune Theatre in Seattle on Saturday, November 26, 2011.

Visqueen celebrates 10 hilarious years as a band with a Thanksgiving-sized helping of their entire catalog.

Rachel Flotard and Ben Hooker, who formed the band in 2001, are announcing Visqueen’s indefinite hiatus. The duo have been inseparable since 1997 and put out three critically acclaimed albums “King Me”, “Sunset On Dateland” and “Message To Garcia”. This is their farewell party and giant thank you to friends and fans that have supported them on their decade-long rock and roll hayride.

STG Presents: Puscifer @ The Paramount Theatre

STG presents Puscifer at The Paramount Theatre in Seattle on Monday, November 7, 2011.

$21-$46    8:00p

While one might imagine Maynard James Keenan would have enough going on to keep him busy as a frontman with the groups Tool and A Perfect Circle, in 2007 he decided to record an album under yet another name with Puscifer. Described by Keenan as “the space where my Id, Ego, and Anima all come together to exchange cookie recipes,” Puscifer first appeared as the name of a fictional band Keenan fronted in a cameo on the HBO sketch comedy series Mr. Show in 1995. It wasn’t until 2003 that Keenan actually recorded under the name, when he teamed up with Danny Lohner for a track called “Rev 22:20″ for the Underworld soundtrack, and it wasn’t until four years later that he set to work on an entire Puscifer album. Organized less as a traditional “rock band,” and more as a musical collective in which Keenan could work with a rotating lineup of likeminded artists, Puscifer’s early recording projects featured a large cast of noted musicians, including Tim Alexander from Primus, Tim Commerford and Brad Wilk from Audioslave and Rage Against the Machine, former King Crimson member Trey Gunn, violinist Lisa Germano, pop singer/songwriter Jonny Polonsky, and actress and vocalist Milla Jovovich.

STG Presents: Baths @ Neptune Theatre

STG presents Baths at the Neptune Theatre in Seattle on Friday, December 9, 2011.

$13-Adv  $16-DOS    8:00 P

For mercurial L.A. music-maker Will Wiesenfeld, Baths has been a long time coming. The 21-year-old has spent the better part of his days living amidst “pleasant” and “unremarkable” in the suburbs of the San Fernando Valley, so perhaps it’s due to a general lack of local inspiration that Wiesenfeld’s own work has never fit into a prefab box of its own. Over the last six years, under the handle of [Post-Foetus], Wiesenfeld has gainfully explored the intersections and outer reaches of both electronic and acoustic music. With Baths, his eclecticism finds its greatest focus yet, in a hail of lush melodies, ghostly choirs, playful instrumentation and stuttering beats.

STG PRESENTS: MOONDOGGIES

STG Presents: The Moondoggies

Saturday Dec 17 @ Neptune Theatre $15

STG presents The Moondoggies at the Neptune Theatre in Seattle on Saturday, December 17, 2011.

There is something inherently calming about large bodies of water. In times of emotional duress, standing at the edge of an ocean watching the waves roll in and out, centers the spirit in a way that standing on terra firma cannot. Kevin Murphy (lead vocals, guitar) chose to title the Moondoggies’ new album Tidelands in part because of a remote area outside his old stomping grounds of Ketchikan, Alaska where he used to go to escape from civilization. More importantly, as the sly recurring themes of water throughout the Seattle quartet’s second full-length underscore, these are songs crafted to provide solace, sense, and cause for celebration in a world fraught with turmoil.

STG presents O.A.R. at the Neptune Theatre in Seattle on Friday, February 3, 2012.

O.A.R.’s Wind-up Records debut album, King, marks a new beginning for the band, while also paying homage to their past. It is the seventh studio effort in a career that began with their high school recording, The Wanderer. Bringing back the title character from their first album, O.A.R. takes the listener on a journey to discover that what the Wanderer, and the band members themselves, had been searching for all along, was there from the beginning. As the closing song on the new disc states, a return “Back to One.”
