1200 free mp3s from Amazon

No, that’s not a typo. I just downloaded about 100. You need to install the Amazon mp3 download application (free) for this to work. Here at my house the downloads are extremely fast, about 4 seconds per song, so that shouldn’t be a concern unless you’re on a slow connection.

examples: Jeremy Enigk’s OK Bear, Mogwai’s Christmas Song, James Pants‘ (from Spokane!) This Christmas Girl

Tacoma’s First Night NYE Bash with The Fun Police, Blue Thunder Seahawks Drumline

Author et2kah   Filed under Music   December 21, 2009

Tacoma’s own good-time band, The Fun Police, kick off the City of Tacoma Main Stage entertainment at 9:30 on the main stage at the city’s famous, family friendly, alcohol free First Night Celebration. With seemingly few in Tacoma sorry to see 2009 quickly fading in the rearview mirror, the hometown heroes of musical public safety will perform their genre defying act in celebration of an upcoming year that, God help us all, has to be better for the Tacoma area than this one.

Skillful musical artists of slice of life tales wrapped in easy to sing and dance along with melodies, The Fun Police, tackling diverse topics including economic hard times, interpersonal relationships, running afoul of the law, and globe-trotting adventures. However, their repertoire shines optimistically with tongue and cheek lyrics, and unexpected rhythm change-ups that will have you dancing and celebrating in the early evening like it was midnight.

Get your pre-funk on and start your First Night adventure with The Fun Police, 9:30 – 10:30 PM on the First Night Main Stage, New Year’s Eve between 9th and 11th on Broadway in downtown Tacoma. Be certain to dress for the outside street venue.

Vince Mira to Perform Elvis’s 1957 film Jailhouse Rock

Author matt   Filed under Upcoming Shows   December 17, 2009

January 8 and 9 Vince Mira hits the Tripledoor Theater stage to perform a LIVE soundtrack to Elvis’s Hit 1957 film Jailhouse Rock. With a show full of surprises, Vince has invited some of his dancer friends from Can Can to perform the famous Jailhouse Rock scene. Widely acknowledged as the most exciting and best-executed musical scene in any of the 30 Presley narrative movies, and is also credited by musical historians as being the first prototype for the modern music video. This is a sure SELL OUT so get your tickets while they last!

Sunset Tavern, Records, People, Weekends.

The Shackles are one of my favorite bands. They are playing live on KEXP tonight at The Sunset Tavern at 8pm. They are quite exciting and hilarious. Their newest release is a 7″ out on Sweet Rot Records.

You can also hear two of them (Jim and Carlos – your favorite people) cameo on Norman Baker’s new album, which you can find at Sonic Boom, Easy Street, Silver Platters, iTunes, CD Baby… You can also see Baker perform (with his beautiful group – with melodica, dobro, violin, guitar, vox) at the Sunset Tavern on Saturday, Dec 26th opening for Drew Victor (NY) and Kevin Large (Widower).

GO THERE AND BUY THOSE!

WIN WIN WIN WIN WIN!!

I LOVE SEATTLE SOMETIMES!!!

Love or Death-EP- LVDH

Available at iTunes

Love or Death’s new EP consisting of 3 electric and 2 acoustic tracks has all the makings of your next favorite band.  I’ve been listening to these guys for the last three months, and it keeps getting better.  Landscape visuals into the emptiness of metropolitan life contrasted with escapes into nature, and seize the day lyrics, all culminate into a truly authentic musical experience. “Smoke and Perfume” my favorite track, is first person view into the tragically sexual and lost youth of today.  The darkness of the song is contrasted with the life of a hypnotic dance beat.  Love or Death has conjured a new sound that is refreshingly genuine and without doubt will win a place in your heart.
