1776, hailing from Kelso, Washington are hosting a CD release party in conjunction with labelmates (from Beat the World Records) The Dandy Warhols’ Christmas show, December 13th, 2009 at the (Website Link) Wonder Ballroom in Portland, OR. This young band has been quietly earning rapport with audiences all over the Northwest, from their hometowns in Longview and Kelso, WA to Portland/Salem, and Seattle/Tacoma. Serious chops bleed forth from 1776 front man Nigel Legerwood (see ‘Revolutionary Leader‘), who plays a 12 string guitar melodically spilling notes through the songs, exemplifying the bands youthful energy as they power through their set. Rounding out the group with Nigel are Mitch Ruppe (Drums), Bernard Cook (guitar/vox), and Zach Whitton (bass/vox), all blending a young rock swagger with hipster and hippie vibes. Fantastic clothes, fantastic hair, and an unassuming persona truly make 1776 a pleasure to watch, as well as listen to. Their beautiful vintage gear and talent doesn’t hurt either. I highly recommend catching one of the following shows to obtain a copy of their album:
