Tits and Brass Benefit Show
This show is shaping up to be quite the lively live music event. We’re talking about a fiesta of jigging and dancing to the beats and brass of live music you can’t always get in front of. Not to mention mixing it up with some of the best burlesque dancing Seattle has to offer (they’re the Tit’s ‘n’ Brass peeps)

I’ve always been a fan of brass instrument music (jazz, to be specific). I was happy to see the mid-1990s resurgence led by Squirrel Nut Zippers, but sad to see it flame out because, IMHO, everybody got over-ska’d.
(Names like “Cherry Poppin’ Daddies”? Really?)
Anyway, good to see shows like this happening… the marriage of brass and burlesque will live forever.
Having grown up in good ole Seattle, it was oh so lovely to see that after being gone for ten years, there’s still a huge presence of the nouveau-retro tribal vibe that I’ve always loved here. The Titanium Sporkestra rocks such a hot, Mad Maxian, BurningMan-meets glam kinda look, it’s incredibly refreshing to see a band made up of all percussion…and did I mention that because they are all excellent musicians, it completely works? In lesser hands their concept would be intriguing, but the execution…painful. The crowd was completely feeling it, the Lo-Fi’s space was the perfect venue…although with all the gettin’ down the Sporkestra inspired, I was a wee bit worried that creaky-ass wooden 2nd floor balcony I was on was going to dramatically, tragically collapse, leaving me mortally wounded (but in a fabulous outfit, and wearing clean underwear and matching socks!).
I’ll be at Honkfest West April 10-12…and if you know what’s good fer ya, you will be too!
