Summer Meltdown Festival Aug 8-10
Music and Camping Festival
August 8-10, 2008
Whitehorse Mountain Amphitheater
This is a bit outside NWMB music style, but looking down the lineup I see that more than half are NW acts. So, from the bowels of the Press Release Monster [my bolds]:
The 8th Annual Flowmotion Summer Meltdown returns August 8 through 10 for its third year at Darrington’s beautiful Whitehorse Mountain Amphitheater and Bluegrass Music Park – 65 miles northeast of Seattle.
The Summer Meltdown, having garnered critical acclaim for its diversity of musical acts – is proud to announce that they will be the first festival in the state to be run on 99% recycled biodiesel. In partnership with Bid For Green, (provider of event bio-diesel solutions for Willie Nelson, Keb’ Mo’ & others,) and national diesel generator supplier Sunbelt, this year’s Summer Meltdown is setting a new benchmark for the use of alternative fuels in Washington State and underscores the festival’s commitment to sustainable living, responsible action and community building.
This year the eclectic music lineup closes cultural gaps with 10 national touring acts (including Buckethead, Tea Leaf Green, That 1 Guy, Steve Kimock & The Everyone Orchestra) and 20+ regional performers representing elements of rock, jazz, roots, funk, bluegrass, hip-hop, country, soul, vaudeville, ska, drum n bass, folk, steel drums and even some glam. This eclectic mix of genres has the Meltdown rising quickly as one of the Northwest’s annual fan-favorite festivals with attendance expected to climb to over 4000 in attendance this year.

Awesome to see this posted! I’ve been to the Meltdown a few years now and think there is no better place to host a party.
IMO, Meltdown is one of the best run festivals in all the NW, and still pretty much a secret to many in the Seattle area. I think a lot of seattlites think this is some hippy jam party in the woods with no organization. But you go and see, it is a major organized event, stage, sound and lighting is equivalent to the Gorge in a lot of ways, but the best part is you get to camp right next to the stages with a great diverse party going crowd.
Another really cool think I like about this event is the venue. The views from this property are insane. As good, or in some people’s opinion, better than the Gorge in a lot of ways, especially since there is a river on the property for people to soak in. Unlike the Gorge, the camping is built into the ticket price which makes it a decent deal for 3 days of events. I refuse to pay $40 a day for that Gorge camping experience anymore. It was ok when it was $20 a night, but no more.
Anyway, go check this event out if have the weekend off. The official site is at http://www.summermeltdown.com
I agree with Tim, its great to see you guys do a write up on the festival this year, it really is an amazing festival and truly unlike any other festivals we have up here in Washington.
The NW portion of the line up really is phenomenal not to mention the national bands that have signed on to top it off.
Thanks again NWMBlog for all the support. Hope to see you guys out there!

is there any way to sign up for the fashion show? or any info about it?
This Festival is absolutely the BEST!! It is so conscious of everyone from Mother Earth to the children to the clean and sober to the hard core late night revelers! The entertainment is phenomenal, the venue is stunning and the vibe is off the hook!! Thank you Flowmotion for starting such a wonderful thing. We love you!!!
