New Wolf Parade CD Released Today
My most-anticipated day in quite a while has arrived. Wolf Parade released At Mount Zoomer today. The Sub Pop band’s release is its second, the first being 2005’s outstanding, mindbending Apologies to the Queen Mary.
I have the record on order, and I’ll post a review here when I’ve soaked in it for a few days.
Popularity: 10%

I pre-ordered this as well. It’s good—but different. Apologies was near perfect, so they have that working against them. They actually have a few songs where they sound like the Cars a little bit, and another that reminds me of an 80s version of “Riders on the Storm”.
It’ll be interesting to see how Mount Zoomer will be received.
Got my Zoomer yesterday. I agree, I’ll be watching the reviews of it closely. I’m midway through my early-opinion-forming opinion… so far it’s good. It’s a good sign when a couple songs jump at you, and that’s happened to me.
LB, your comment on the sound of it is interesting. I thought the single Call it a Ritual sounded very Spoon-ish. Oddly so.
Anyway, for those without this album, you can get Ritual from KEXP’s Song of the Day podcast, and Language City from Sub Pop itself: http://www.subpop.com/assets/audio/4380.mp3.
