Is that a picture of Beck or Tom Petty?

This lineup looks AOK. Thankfully no Fergie, no major pop trash. I can wait to turn a pedal, park right up front, and wander around in what is sure to be a sunny weekend. Big acts can suck it. I'm with Ledoux - catch the small shows during the stadium distractions. Just watch for whirling dervishes. (Jeebus, do I hate hippies.)

If I'm not mistaken, there is a big push to redesign Seattle Center in it's entirity. Granted, this is most likely to happen right after they build a citywide monorail route, BUT... maybe we should offer up our ideas based on music events, eh?

I will give major kudos to the complete rebuild/remodel/reworking of the sound systems last year. The sound overall (and especially at Fisher Green)was really good and a huge improvement from the previous 'shoots.

I support people-watching, beer-drinking and the fact that the Seattle Center layout is currently horrible.

The best shows at the Bum' happen on the smaller stages anyway. Especially if there is a HUGE headliner, the rest of the place will be empty and you can just mosy on up to any stage and have an intimate show. I've always had the best time just wandering from stage to stage in the evening when the "big fellas" are playing.
And if you're a big fan, and want to catch the big acts, buy the big pass. It's as easy as that.

In my eyes, the problem is, for a lot of the popular bands -- it's impossible to get in to see them. you have to line up, wait for ever, for a slim chance to even get in. I mean, I always have fun at bumbershoot, don't get me wrong but I don't usually go with a plan to see any particular acts b/c I would just be disappointed. I go more for the beer and the people watching and the wandering (oh and to make fun of the hippies) and music is secondary. Maybe I should just stop comparing Bumbershoot to ACL or sasquatch or cochella b/c the space at the seattle center is not really conducive for having lots of major acts in one confined space. Now I'm just rambling...

Amen to that. I've attended many a Bumbershoots as well, and am always glad I did. It's the granddaddy of many major music festivals today (Lollapalooza, Coachella, SXSW, etc.) and continues to be one of the largest urban arts festivals in North America--how can that not be a good time?

I have been to bumbershoot every year for the last 5 or 6 years and it's always worth it. Get drunk, smoke a lil sumthin and just roam. You'll find something that's dope that you've never heard of before.

Cutting through all the hippies, stepping on Birkenstocks, and hearing countless passive aggressive complaints like "woah, brah" to get to the front is always my favorite part.

I still think bumbershoot is sorely lacking compared to a lot of other festivals out there. But what can you do, oh, i know, go hang out in the beer garden and drink all day.

Yes, very true, watching Weiland is like watching a sickly version of David Lee Roth, BUT, a) STP is not their poster child b)Seattle loves their grunge, and c)it sure ain't that turd-storm Fergie.

What, no griping about Stone Temple Pilots?? They suck hardcore. Scott Weiland got fired from Velvet Revolver (seriously, how do you get kicked out of a band by Slash for disparaging behaviour?) and now the dude needs a little dope money.
