The Black Keys stole my face
I think it melted off by the third song in last night’s set.
I’ll be the first, but probably not the last, to say this: That was the best damned rock show I have seen in this town. That’s a credit to the band, and also the venue. The sound was dead ON. The crowd was into it and Patrick and Dan played like they really had to earn a paycheck.
More imagery to follow.
I left the Showbox SODo on Saturday night shredded to ribbons. Shredded by diamond edged swords. The performance better than words can explain and like Mr Levitan mentioned above, the sound in that joint could not have been more spot on. I thought that the Black Keys were going to adjust their show to accommodate the new Ike-Turneresque-stylings evident on Attack and Release, but was more than pleased when they adjusted the songs to accommodate their dialed-in version of the crunchiest most delicious rock around.
Yeah, I’m going to be hard pressed to name a better show.
By the way. Does anyone know the name of the guy who does (did) the Showbox sound for that Keys show? I wanna give him the proper credit he deserves.
