The Police and Elvis Costello at the Gorge 12 July
I just heard tickets are now on sale for this rock show of old-timers. Maybe I am getting old, but this sounds like a solid bet. When The Police appeared in Seattle last year, Sting’s son’s band opened, and the show was at the Key Arena. This lineup and venue makes the $80 ticket seem a much better value, no?
I’m not that excited to deal with the expected traffic, swarms of people, and knuckle heads it will take just to get to the show but if I have to do it, I’d do it for this show. I’d see Elvis anywhere.
You two people are joking, right? Right? Please tell me you’re putting us on. Neither act has done anything even remotely interesting in over 25 years! Jeez, I’m an old-timer too, but these ancient fossilized performers should just die already.
Zep and Van Halen haven’t done squat in decades, either, but that doesn’t mean I wouldn’t go see them. The Police would be pretty sweet. And hey – Elvis with the Beastie Boys wasn’t a little bit interesting???
I hear that there is a bus every hour on the hour heading to the venue from Cedar Woods Retirement Community. Maybe you geezers can make the show and be back for dinner at 4:30.
Van Halen…? Led Zeppelin…? 2…0….0….8
Jesus. Throw your tapes away already.
From our reader Rich –
“…another 80’s British band is coming to the Northwest in a few weeks and is definitely worth the time to see.
The Records (of “Starry Eyes” and “Teenarama” fame) are playing The East End Club in Portland on the 18th and then going to Seattle to play The Comet Tavern. They call themselves John Wicks and The Records these days (Wicks is the one who wrote all those memorable hooks back in the day) and this should be VERY entertaining. And it’s a lot cheaper than the $80 ticket price for EC and the Police!”
