Well said LB, well said.
I didn’t think I was familiar with the Feral Children coming into this show, but recognized well over 1/2 their set from their airplay. Kudos to the Kayeeheckspee. The Feral Children have often been referred to as sounding like Modest Mouse. I think they have transcended the confines of the NW sound and given it cross continent identity. Some of the songs were born in a Chicago Zoo while others are lurking in a NY alley. The FC cast you into a tumultuous spin cycle not only from song to song, but within songs. Jaundice Giraffe began in a dreamy, eerie harmony, and then in an unsettling drop, plunged into dark rage. Only to return again swiftly and coo you to sleep. If you can, see them live at the Cha Cha! (just above Neumos on Pine) They are infective.
Anyone wanting to check out photos from the show, you can see them on the KEXP flickr page here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/kexp/2309704960/in/set-72157604039137340/
