Stranger, Sonic Boom, PBR Sponsor Cheap Rock

Wow. The Sunset Tavern just got a whole lot cooler. Thursdays, too.

Not that it wasn’t already a bad-ass place to see a show, but their latest monthly event, Piss Your Pants, looks like it might catapult the Ballard venue into another echelon. The recently announced affair will apparently take place on the 3rd Thursday of every month, and will feature local, hard-hitting rock bands for—get this—a measly 2 bucks. Plus, they’re offering $2 PBR Pounders all night long as an additional incentive. I don’t know about you, but I think PBR and sweet guitar licks go together like peanut butter and jelly.

To top off this promising news, the inaugural bill, taking place January 17th, will feature three of the better local bands out there. Pysch-poppers the Purrs will open the show, the Heavy Hearts (for whose full length I’ve been pining for what seems like an age) will spill their guts next, and Hypatia Lake will headline. If all future lineups are this great, it will be an excellent year for the Sunset.
