Feist @ Moore Theatre

After shows like this I’m forced to create adjectives. Like outgoddamnstanding and superlafuckingtive, because there aren’t suitable ones already.

Leslie Feist of Feist was simply outgoddamnstanding. She has a voice that’s a little bit Tori Amos, a little bit Kim Carnes, and a little bit Janis Joplin. And the 30-ish Canadian plays her Gibson as if she held it — not dolls or bikes or pets — growing up. Feist has that very special balance of skill, rockstar showmanship, draw and modesty that glues your eyes to her when she’s live and glues your mind to her afterward.

Her band was versatile as they were unremarkable, save for the drummer playing with his hands on the second song.

Leslie is also a member of Broken Social Scene and thus a bandmate of another superlafuckingtive Canadian musician, Amy Millan.
